Priorities
As a civil rights lawyer and former public school teacher, I understand that most Alabamians want the same things: quality public schools, community safety, affordable health care, and more money in their pockets. As your Lieutenant Governor, I will continue my long record of serving Alabamians of all backgrounds and delivering solutions to improve their everyday lives.
Our Priorities for Alabama:
1 - Put more money in the pockets of Alabamians
- Eliminate the sales tax on groceries
- Create a State lottery to fund needed services and provide working families and farmers with a stimulus check
- Renew tax exemption on overtime pay
2 - Improve access to affordable healthcare, telehealth, and mental health services
- Expand Medicaid to help working-class families obtain affordable health insurance and keep hospitals open
- Ensure rural families have access to nearby medical services by creating a rural hospital fund
- Attract and retain quality medical professionals to the state through loan forgiveness
3 - Ensure access to quality public schools in every community
- Increase education employee pay to recruit and retain the best and brightest to educate our children
- Create college and technical trade scholarships by using lottery revenue
- Keep public dollars in public schools to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars and invest in the schools that educate all of our children.
4 - Prioritize safe neighborhoods for all Alabamians
- Advocate for the repeal of the permitless carry law.
- Establish college scholarships for the children of first responders to help attract, recruit, and retain the most qualified professionals to serve our communities.
- Expand reentry/rehabilitation services and the student conflict resolution program to reduce violence.
